I've used an iPad Air 1st generation (handed from my sister) and it was decent, not exactly remarkable in 2022. It was able to handle tasks such as web surfing, typing documents, reading easily with a bit of lag from time to time. You can definitely feel a slight drop of performance when comparing this to the A8 chip if both are running on iOS 12. Gaming is out of the question as most do not function properly. light games do function well on this chip fortunately. I cannot decide on battery or thermals life as my iPad Air's battery is extraordinarily worn and the entire iPad gets warm with usage, including the area of the cpu's location. Overall, this is a solid chip which performs basic tasks well and can certainly do more than say, an iPad 4th gen with the A6x chip. not a good choice in 2022
