Ask anyone who owns a swimming pool what the biggest drawback is, and they’d undoubtedly tell you it’s the cleaning and maintenance. Either you spend hours cleaning it yourself each week or pay someone else to do it for you — that is, unless you purchase a robotic pool cleaner.

Unlike robotic vacuum cleaners, which have greatly advanced over the years, the technology in robotic pool cleaners has developed much more slowly, and they usually come with drawbacks. Whether it’s cables that get tangled up or poor navigation, their shortcomings can often leave you frustrated, or even reaching for the number of the pool guy you let go the week before.

Fortunately, you no longer have to compromise with a pool robot, thanks to the introduction of the AquaSense and AquaSense Pro, two robotic pool cleaners announced at CES 2024 by Beatbot.

Intelligence

One of their standout features is the focus on intelligence. The AquaSense and AquaSense Pro are both controlled by a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor, which is far more powerful than competing products. This extra processing power is essential in order to drive the Intelligent Path Optimization features that elevate these robotic pool cleaners above similar offerings.

Working in tandem with this processing power is a sophisticated array of sensors (15 in the AquaSense, 20 in the AquaSense Pro), which allows it to plan the most efficient cleaning routes. They also ensure it can react to any changes in the pool, such as obstacles that might appear in its path.

Power

The fact that the AquaSense series provides a cordless solution to robotic pool cleaning is undoubtedly one of its best features. Just by looking at social media posts, you can see many stories of frustration from people who own a corded robot — with the cables often getting stuck, tangled, or in extreme cases, even breaking.

Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about that with the AquaSense robots. Both have huge batteries (6,700 mAh in the AquaSense and 10,000 mAh in the AquaSense Pro), which provide a runtime of 3.5 and 5 hours, respectively. Once the cleaning cycle is complete, you simply retrieve it and place it in the docking station, and it will be fully charged again in around three hours. You can retreive the AquaSense from the waterline, or if you opt for the AquaSense Pro, you can fetch it from the surface.

Ease of use

Setting up the AquaSense is incredibly easy. Once it's charged, you just have to set it down on a level surface for a few seconds to calibrate. After that, you simply place it in the water and it will navigate the pool to calculate the most efficient cleaning route.

Unlike many robotic pool cleaners that can only be controlled with buttons on the robot, the AquaSense is equipped with Wi-Fi so that everything can be managed through your smartphone using the Beatbot app. Here, you can select from the various cleaning modes, access cleaning records, and receive notifications regarding its status. Because of the onboard Wi-Fi, it can also receive OTA updates in the future to increase its performance.

Once the cleaning cycle is complete, it will automatically return to the edge of the pool (or surface if you have the Pro model), making it easy to retrieve. You can simply grab it by the handle, but you’ll also find a hook in the box that makes taking it out of the water even more effortless.

Powerful cleaning

The advanced motor system of the AquaSense series provides up to 5500 GPH (gallons per hour) of suction power. It also features four independent roller brushes for powerful scrubbing and a 150µm filtration system, ensuring it picks up even the smallest debris with ease.

Both robots can clean your pool's floor, walls, and waterline. However, if you opt for the more advanced AquaSense Pro, you also get surface cleaning and clarifier dispensing — making it the first 5-in-1 pool cleaning robot on the market. You also don’t need to worry about your pool's shape or material, as the AquaSense can clean anything with full coverage.
