I'm no specialized technician, just an enthusiastic hobbyist. I've had a JBL Flip 4 for 4 years and just acquired a Flip 6, after many favorable reviews from experts and knowledgeable YouTubers. As far as my perception goes up to now, facing the Flip 4 off against the Flip 6, I didn't hear anything so significant to justify nearly 5 years later and an extra $100 in price (when I bought the Flip 4, I paid something around $60), except for an improvement in the treble levels, notably when managed by the JBL Connect app (that was indeed an advancement). However, the much-touted bass from the Flip 6 didn't feel so pronounced to me. But this is a personal perception and subject to revision, as I still need to test the speaker with other sources besides my usual ones (laptop and cell phone). For now, comparatively, I felt like there's too much hype for the Flip 6 for not enough delivery. If the price of the Flip 4 had remained at the level it was 4 years ago, I would definitely say, go with the Flip 4 without any hesitation.

This speaker is really good if you get it at a good price. It's the latest in the Flip series to feature stereo sound, a headphone jack, and a microphone for calls. The sound quality given its size is really good with plenty of bass. The battery lasts almost as long as advertised when used at 60% of the volume, of course the higher you turn it up the more the battery life reduces
Pros
Bass
Battery life
Reasonably compact size
Last in the flip series to feature stereo sound
Last in the flip series to have a headphone jack
Cons
Mid-range sound details could be better
Price often exceeds the actual value of the speaker

A passive radiator is a type of driver (speaker) that doesn't have a voice coil and a magnet. The sound vibrations produced by a passive radiator depend on its mass and the size of its enclosure. It is usually used in combination with a woofer to produce deep bass tones.

aptX Lossless is an audio codec for Bluetooth devices that is developed by Qualcomm. It supports high quality 16-bit/44.1kHz audio (at a maximum bit rate of 1200kbps). This codec provides CD-quality audio without any loss of data.
LDAC is a codec developed by Sony for Bluetooth audio. It is capable of a very high bitrate of 990kbps, which provides high resolution audio. It can also automatically adjust to a lower bitrate of 330kbps or 660kbps to increase stability.
aptx Adaptive is an audio codec for Bluetooth devices that is developed by Qualcomm. It has a variable bit rate (between 279kbps and 420kbps), which means it can adjust the bit rate for different scenarios, such as listening to HD audio or reducing interference from other devices.
